Conference Scientific and Program Committee President, Prof. Dr. Sadiković stated that although at first glance it seems that this is a health phenomenon that primarily belongs to the medical sciences, it is more than obvious that the involvement of all scientific fields, members of both the state and non-governmental sector is necessary in relation to the pandemic. side negative effects caused by the crisis.
Minister of Security of BiH, Prof. Dr. Cikotić thanked the Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies of the University of Sarajevo for organizing the conference and for thematizing a living matter in this way and dealing with a topic that is very relevant to security. He also stressed that the crisis is something that manifests and very clearly shows all the pros and cons of the system, and that what we can conclude from this crisis is the fact that security challenges are increasingly interdependent and interconnected, and that the emergence of a security challenge as a rule, it means increased presence, increased negative impact and increased destructive effects of other security challenges.
The two-day international scientific conference was organized as a hybrid conference, primarily in the online mode via the web portal www.cfs.ba.
In this way, although in different conditions, the tradition of holding an international scientific conference and connecting the academic community, scientists, researchers, students, professions, and all individuals interested in scientific fields studied and developed at the Faculty of Criminology, Criminology and Security Studies continues. University of Sarajevo.
Numerous authors from Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad submitted their scientific papers for participation in this year's conference, and we especially emphasize that in addition to members of the academic community, and researchers and scientists from our country, Croatia, Serbia, Northern Macedonia, Poland, Great Britain and other countries, plenary lectures for all participants will be held by Prof. Dr. Ivo Josipović (Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb), Prof. Dr. Alemka Markotić (director of the Clinic for Infectious Diseases “Dr. Fran Mihaljević”, Zagreb), Prof. Dr. Ratko Duev (Faculty of Philosophy, University “St. Cyril and Methodius”, Skopje), and Prof. Dr. Zoran Keković (Faculty of Security, University of Belgrade).
The Covid-19 pandemic has become an ‘unprecedented crisis’ and continues to pose one of the greatest challenges to all of humanity. The lost human lives and numerous other negative consequences that the pandemic has caused so far, require an urgent response not only from health workers, but also from all other workers, who can only work together to provide a possible response to the crisis. For this reason, we expect that the International Scientific Conference “Pandemic Covid-19 - the response of science to the challenge of the century” will make a significant contribution, both to identify and prevent the negative consequences of the crisis that is still ongoing.
