Dr. Adisa Bašić winner of the Austrian Slavic Society Award
The Austrian Slavic Society (Österreichische Gesellschaft für Slawistik) named Adisa Bašić, Assistant Professor at the Department of Comparative Literature and Information Sciences at the Faculty of Philosophy, this year's winner of the Ingeborg Ohnheiser Prize in the Literary Sciences category at the universities of Vienna, Graz, Klagenfurt, Salzburg and Innsbruck.
The award-winning dissertation entitled “Comic Approach to Erotic Love in Selected South Slavic Lyric” was defended at the University of Graz, under the mentorship of Professor Renata Hansen Kokoruš and the co-mentorship of Professor Dževad Karahasan.
The paper collects and analyzes a wide range of poems that humorously speak of carnal love and offer an alternative to the established image of love as an unattainable ideal. The topic of the dissertation are those poems that see love as sublime and important, but place it in the spheres of human, earthly and bodily experience. The studied corpus begins with an oral tradition and ends with contemporary authorial lyrics of the 21st century.
Doz. Dr. Adisa Bašić teaches subjects related to poetry, creative writing and art-literary criticism at the Department of Comparative Literature and Information Sciences.
