The University of Sarajevo and the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo signed an Agreement on regulating mutual relations in the performance of teaching, scientific research and publishing work
Signing of an agreement on the regulation of mutual relations in the performance of teaching, research and publishing work between the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo and the University of Sarajevo and its members: Faculty of Health Studies, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and Faculty of Dental Medicine with Clinical Center, was held today in the UNSA Rectorate Ceremonial Hall.
The contract was signed by Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, University of Sarajevo Rector, Prim. Assoc. Doz. Dr. Med. Alen Pilav, acting general director of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Fahir Bečić, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Amina Valjevac, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Prof. Dr. Nusret Drešković, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, University of Sarajevo. The contract will be subsequently signed by Prof. Dr. Muhamed Ajanović, Dean of the Faculty of Dental Medicine with Clinical Center and Prof. Dr. Arzija Pašalić, Dean of the Faculty of Health Studies, University of Sarajevo.
Rector Škrijelj stressed the importance of the joint work of the University of Sarajevo and the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo for the quality education of students: "Without joint work, there is no quality education of students in the field of medical sciences and partly in natural and mathematical sciences. Therefore, today the University of Sarajevo has corrected the deficiencies with this act which were created in the past years," said Rector Škrijelj. He added that the Agreement with the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, although of a more formal-legal character, enables regular and correct payment of professors and assistants from the Clinical Center, who participate in a significant percentage in the implementation of the teaching process. "Unhindered access to our students is provided, access to the resources of the Clinical Center for education, preparation of graduate and master's theses, doctorates, and most importantly, for the professional education of our future doctors". He also added that they still have one more joint task - that the Clinical Center gets a five-year decision that they are a university hospital, because they are currently working under a temporary decision.
Prim. Doz. Dr. Alen Pilav expressed his gratitude to the University of Sarajevo and Rector Škrijelj, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with the group of medical sciences and its members, and the Faculty of Science and Mathematics. "Finally, we have completely edited and signed this very important document, the Mutual Cooperation Agreement. With this, we have officially become the teaching base of the University of Sarajevo," said dr. Pilav.
He added that the Clinical Center has been the place where all the students of the medical group and the Faculty of Science were educated and that it will continue to be so. "Students first of all gained knowledge at the Clinical Center, and doctors in the surgical and diagnostic disciplines imparted knowledge to them every day," said Dr. Pilaf. High school students and students are the future base for filling the missing staff and they are eagerly waiting for them "to come and start their careers at our and their Clinical Centers after graduation," Pilav added.
Prof. Dr. Amina Valjevac emphasized the importance of this moment for the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Sarajevo: "The signing of this contract formalized the long-term cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo. The Clinical Center has been the teaching base of the Faculty of Medicine for decades and is the most important base where around 50% of the teaching of the medical study program, both in Bosnian and in English," said Dean Valjevac.
Prof. Dr. Fahir Bečić emphasized that the benefits will be extremely great for the students: "They will be able to perform professional practice, improve their practical knowledge, competences and skills at the Clinical Center, and in addition to professional practice, they will be able to use the other laboratory spaces of the Clinical Center," said Dean Bečić.
Prof. Dr. Nusret Drešković expressed the hope that cooperation will intensify even more: "Cooperate even stronger and more intensively and give your full contribution when it comes to protecting citizens' health and improving health care," said Dean Drešković.
The contract was signed with the aim of regulating mutual relations in connection with the implementation of teaching, scientific research, publishing activities and other forms of cooperation, as well as regulating the rights, obligations and responsibilities arising from the connection of the contracting parties in the performance of their basic activities, and with the aim of improving and achieving mutual interests.
