University of Sarajevo on the 7th joint scientific conference of the Berlin Process
The 7th Joint Scientific Conference of the Berlin Process and the annual meeting of the participants in the Chapter on Science, Education, Research and Innovation of the Berlin Process for the Western Balkans are held from 18 to 20 September in Tirana (Albania).
The Conference entitled "Partnership for Excellence - Partnership for Europe" was focused on three key topics:
- Assessment of the progress of Balkan and Southeast European communities of higher education, research and innovation towards integration within the Framework of the European Union,
- Creating excellence in the Balkans through efficient instruments and alliances, and
- Development of adapted mobility schemes for students, researchers and experts, including (re) Connecting the academic diaspora with their countries of origin.
The result of the conference is a set of recommendations on the mentioned topics for the Summit of the heads and the Government of the Western Balkans, which will take place on October 16, 2023 in Tirana.
The conference was an opportunity for talks on the role of scientific organizations in the promotion of the integration of the Balkans in the European Union, taking into account the geopolitical and security context.
Representatives from the 16th Berlin Process countries participated in the conference, and the University of Sarajevo in this significant gathering was represented by Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović, Vice-Rector for Finance, University of Sarajevo.
The Conference organizers are the Albanian Academy of Sciences and the German State Academy of Sciences Leopoldina.
