University edition Monograph – “30 years of the Bosnian Committee of the International Council for Large Electrical Systems CIGRE” Promoted

The promotion of the university edition of the Monograph - “30 years of the Bosnian Committee of the International Council for Large Electrical Systems CIGRE” was held on 8 July 2024, in the University of Sarajevo Rectorate Ceremonial Hall.

Bosnia and Herzegovina Committee/Branch of the International Council for Large Electrical Systems CIGRE - BH K/O CIGRE is the publisher of the manuscript “30 years of the Bosnian Committee of the International Council for Large Electrical Systems CIGRE” - Monograph. Authors: Edhem Bičakčić, Prof. Dr. Zijad Bajramović, Irfan Durmić, Prof. Dr. Drago Bago, Prof. Dr. Tatjana Konjić, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Music, M.Sc. Sabina Dacić-Lepara, Maja Muftić-Dedović, Dr. Elvisa Bećirović and Edina Mašnić. The monograph was published in Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian and English.

By the decision of the Senate of the University of Sarajevo, consent was given to the publications Monograph - “30 years of work of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Committee of the International Council for Large Electrical Systems CIGRE” and Monograph - “30 years of work of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Committee of the International Council on Large Electrical Systems CIGRE” “ can be published as university editions.

Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj pointed out that this exceptional work represents a significant contribution to documenting and preserving the history of the committee's work and achievements, as well as progress in the field of large electrical systems.

“The University of Sarajevo is proud to be a part of this project, and the Senate's decision to publish this monograph as a university edition only confirms our commitment to promoting knowledge and research in the field of electrical engineering and energy.” This publication is not only a document of past achievements, but also an inspiration for future generations of experts and researchers. Our cooperation with CIGRE and its Bosnia and Herzegovina committee is extremely important for the University of Sarajevo”, Rector Škrijelj emphasized, and added: “I am sure that this monograph will serve as a valuable resource and inspiration for everyone who is interested in the development of large electrical system”.

The promoters were Mr. Edhem Bičakčić, academic Branislava Perunčić, academic Kemal Hanjalić and moderator Prof. Dr. Zijad Bajramović.

CIGRE Committee President, Prof. Dr. Zijad Bajramović stated that this organization has been operating in BiH for more than 70 years through the Yugoslav CIGRE committee, so that in 1992 the current committee for BiH was founded as one of 61 such committees in the world. He explained that the International Council for Large Electrical Systems CIGRE was founded 100 years ago in Paris, of which Bosnia and Herzegovina is an equal member. He also pointed out that the monograph follows the first steps in electrification in the world, the electrification of Bosnia and Herzegovina before the First World War and the capital construction of the system after the Second World War, the devastation of the system in the last war and its reconstruction, and the current transition of the energy sector.

President of the Regional Committee of the International Council for Large Electric Systems SEERC CIGRE Mr. Edhem Bičakčić reminded that the CIGRE Committee was founded by a group of enthusiasts in August 1992 in the hall of the BiH Chamber of Commerce, without electricity.

He emphasized that CIGRE brings together students, manufacturers of electrical equipment, power companies, regulators and others who deal with power engineering in order to exchange experiences, apply the latest achievements and accelerate the development of that important sector, which in BiH contributes up to 30 percent of GDP.

Academician Branislava Peruničić in her review pointed out that the Monograph gives a very clear picture of the history of activities of CIGRE, CIRED and SEERC in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the world, and that it describes the wide range of their work in the country and their important role in connecting with foreign activities and represents a serious work for which can be of interest to everyone who works in industry and electricity production.

Academician Kemal Hanjalić stated that the Monograph represents an extremely valuable contribution because it provides an account of the activities of Bosnia and Herzegovina. of the CIGRE committee. In addition to this presentation of activities during 30 years of activity, there are several other interesting elements that need to be highlighted, says academician Hanjalić: “First, the Monograph is not only a very comprehensive presentation of the development and activities of Bosnia and Herzegovina. CIGRE, rather, contains a couple of interesting chapters that are of historical importance, such as the chapter on the electrification of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the chapter on the conceptual project of the Museum of Science and Technology in Sarajevo”.
