On the fourth day of the 11th Staff Week at UNSA, the sessions "Mental health and communication" and "How to animate non-teaching staff to participate in mobility" were held, and certificates were awarded
On the fourth day of Staff Week, three sessions were held:
- Mental health and communication
- How to animate non-teaching staff to participate in mobility
- Awarding of certificates
Assoc. Ph.D. Gorana Sulejmanpašić from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Sarajevo led the Mental Health and Communication and spoke about the challenges faced by university staff in working with people who have challenges in their daily work and how there are minimal differences between people with and without mental situations that affect their daily behavior. Because of this, students are very often withdrawn because they expect to be stigmatized in society, which can affect their health. This is why it is essential to have support services organized at universities, which can provide real professional help but also animate and train teaching and non-teaching staff to recognize phenomena in students and staff who are looking for help but are not able to say so, fearing to be stigmatized. The presentation opened a discussion where international visiting university staff also shared their experiences and the organization of support at their institutions.
The day continued with a session during which the opportunities for teaching and non-teaching staff within the framework of Erasmus+ KA131/171 mobility were presented and where the focus was placed on non-teaching staff who are often unable to participate in mobility due to various obstacles: lack of knowledge of the language, because they have no previous experience in similar training or because there were not enough offers matching their profile. In this regard, a workshop was organized where the participants were divided into four groups to create an agenda for the international staff week intended for all university staff. In the end, each group presented their idea, which enabled an exchange of opinions and inspiration for organizing similar events with ideas from this workshop.
In the end, certificates were awarded to the participants of Staff Week, confirming their active participation, commitment to daily work, and enjoyment of the offer provided by the University of Sarajevo and the city of Sarajevo itself.
