Stamp “75th Anniversary of the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Law” Promoted
On the occasion of celebrating the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Law’s75th anniversary, a promotion of the BH Post postage stamp was held today, which is dedicated to this important jubilee.
The importance of the existence of the Faculty of Law and its efforts to preserve and develop the idea of law, legal values, justice, humanity and academic responsibility for decades was discussed at the event held in the ceremonial hall of the Rectorate of the University of Sarajevo (in the Judicial Palace).
University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj and Faculty of Law Dean, Prof. Dr. Hajrija Sijerčić-Čolić addressed attendees. They reminded those present of important historical facts about the establishment of the Faculty of Law, University of Sarajevo. Namely, the Law on the Faculty of Law, which was published on 23 August 1946 in the “Official Gazette of the People's Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, established the Faculty of Law with its seat in Sarajevo.
Since then, more than 65,700 students and about 17,000 graduates have been enrolled in 75 years of existence.
“If we look back, we can conclude that the Faculty of Law has achieved exceptional results in research and study of legal sciences and has raised generations of young lawyers on the acquired knowledge and reputation. Also, great efforts have been made in the development of traditional legal disciplines, the door has been opened to new branches of law that are affirmed together with the development of society, economy, technologies and international relations” said Dean Sijerčić-Čolić.
University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj expressed his satisfaction that the promotion of the postage stamp marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Faculty of Law, University of Sarajevo.
“Such events are very important not only for the Faculty of Law and the University of Sarajevo, but also for the wider community, because the importance of the postal market is not only in its nominal and use value in paying for postal services, but above all it represents the national and cultural value of a country. In this way its national heritage is best promoted. That is why I am proud that one of them recently, more precisely from August 23, 2021, houses the Judicial Palace as one of the symbols of this city and state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which houses the Faculty of Law of the University of Sarajevo, as the most important and best institutions in the field of legal education in Bosnia and Herzegovina” said Rector Škrijelj.
On behalf of “JP BH POŠTA” d.o.o. Sarajevo, the General Manager, Mr. Sci. Mirsad Mujić addressed attendees.
He emphasized that by issuing the jubilar stamp, BH Pošte wanted to leave a reminder to present and future generations about the importance of the work and development of the Faculty of Law for society and academia in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“On the occasion of celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Faculty of Law, the public company BH Pošte issued a commemorative postage stamp. In this way, we wanted, symbolically and practically, to document this important moment and give recognition to the Faculty of Law for its great scientific and professional contribution and for its recognizable social role” said General Manager Mujić.
The first copy of the stamp was awarded to the University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj and the Faculty of Law, University of Sarajevo, followed by a copy for the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Law, Dean, Prof. Dr. Hajrija Sijerčić-Čolić.
The extraordinary postage stamp “75 Anniversary of the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Law” was printed in a run of 10,000 copies, and a commemorative FDC envelope in a circulation of 150 pieces.
