The University of Sarajevo participated in the Global 13th Confucius Institute Conference
The Confucius institutes global network is continually growing in terms of the number of institutes and classrooms, but it is also developing in terms of the quality of teaching and the number of users of programs and services. University of Sarajevo delegation, led by Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Nikolić, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation represented the Confucius Institute at the University of Sarajevo in the two-day work of the global conference in Chengdu, PRC, which took place on 4-5 December 2018. Vice-Rector Nikolić was accompanied by Mr. La Weixin, Director of the Institute and Miroslav Živanović, coordinator of the development project of the Confucius Institute of the University of Sarajevo.
The conference brought together more than 2,500 participants, representatives of the Confucius Institute and classrooms from partner universities from all over the world. The conference was organized in two main forums, in its established format. The first, intended for the directors of the Confucius Institute, which discussed issues of quality of teaching, performance management, scholarships, cultural cooperation, cooperation with business entities, integration of the Chinese language into curricula of focused education, regional cooperation, etc. The second forum, dedicated to senior university managers within the Confucius Institute, was focused on topics such as innovations in Educational and Operational Mechanisms of the Confucius Institute, professionalization of directors and teachers, digitization, branding and capacity building for academic research. In accordance with the established topics, the participants presented best practices from different parts of the world.
In addition, for the University of Sarajevo it is important that during the conference a visit was organized and agreement on cooperation with the Agricultural University in Sichuan signed and attended by more than 45,000 students whose life and work was organized in three modern equipped campus camps, was held.
