The University of Sarajevo and the Embassy of Romania: Intensive cooperation and another realized project

The realization of the project “Procurement of a conference audio-video system for the Senate of the University of Sarajevo” was the reason for the meeting that was held today at the University of Sarajevo, which marked the intense and successful cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and the Embassy of Romania in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Ambassador of Romania to Bosnia and Herzegovina, H. E. Anton Pacuretu met with Rector of the University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, in the presence of the newly elected rector and the current Vice-Rector for Finance Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović and M.Sc. sci. Miroslav Živanović, Head of the Office of the Rector.

The project “Procurement of a conference audio-video system for the Senate of the University of Sarajevo”, which is of exceptional importance, will further improve the communication and organization of key events and processes at the University of Sarajevo. The project was financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania, through the Romanian Agency for International Development Cooperation (RoAid), and with the coordination of the Embassy of Romania in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Rector Škrijelj thanked the ambassador, the Embassy of Romania and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania for their support, and expressed his openness to intensifying cooperation with the Embassy.

Ambassador Pacuretu expressed satisfaction at the opportunity to support this, as well as previously realized projects.

In addition to the project “Procurement of a conference audio-video system for the Senate of the University of Sarajevo”, the project “Adaptation and furnishing of the Senate hall and the ceremonial hall of the University of Sarajevo for the needs of the Rector's Library and the presentation of scientific research and artistic work of the University of Sarajevo” was realized, and currently realizes the project of furnishing classrooms and purchasing equipment for the Department of Romance Studies at the University of Sarajevo. In addition to the mentioned projects, the Embassy of Romania also provided support to the Department of Romance Studies at the University of Sarajevo. Given that Romania is an active member of the Francophonie movement, they financially supported the Department of French Language and Literature, enabling the purchase of books, textbooks and scientific works for their library.

During the meeting, they discussed strengthening ties through various models of academic and cultural cooperation, and intensifying cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and universities in Romania. Ideas were exchanged about possible areas of cooperation, with a special focus on the exchange of students and teachers, and possible joint projects of the University of Sarajevo and the university in Romania financed through EU funds.

The cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and the Embassy of Romania in BiH reflects an extraordinary example of international academic connection and friendship, and indicates the importance of investing in education and culture.
