Director of the International Program of the State University of North Carolina (NCSU) Visit
Director of the International Program of the prestigious American State University in North Carolina, Mr. J. Jose Cisneros (NCSU) and Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Nikolić, University of Sarajevo (UNSA) Vice-Rector for International Cooperation met in the UNSA Rectorate on Thursday, 12 July 2018.
The idea behind the arrival is the result of positive experiences and activities carried out within the Cochran Fellowship program “Resilient Agriculture”, funded by the US Department of Agriculture (UNDA), held at the NCSU from 14 to 28 October last year. This study program was completed by the gentlemen: Almir Mukača, Jakub Butković, Ljubinko Kecman, Miljan Erbez, Novo Przulj, Velibor Trifković and Sabrija Čadro.
During the Rectorate meeting the cooperation of the two universities and the future steps in order to achieve and strengthen this cooperation were discussed. Mr. Jose Cisneros presented the goals of the University of North Carolina, where the strengthening of international cooperation, especially in the field of agriculture and nutrition, is a major strategic goal. The University of North Carolina, with its quality, occupies a high place in the world rankings – AWRU - Shanghai's list: between 251-300 places, with engineering and technology in the 93rd place and on the state list (US) at 137th place according to data for 2018. Vice-Rector Nikolić explained the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the problems that BiH agriculture encounters, and besides that, the huge potentials of this aRea.
After the meeting, Mr. Cisneros visited the UNSA Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences he was welcomed by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Satan Sarić and his faculty. At that meeting, they talked of possibilities for continuing the collaboration. Finally, concrete steps have been agreed on, such as: exchange of faculty teaching staff, the possibility of getting involved in the work of previously started or joint application to new scientific-research projects, and more.
