On 10 June 2024, the University of Sarajevo announced competitions for the enrollment of students in the academic year 2024/2025 which enable the enrollment of 5,590 students for the first cycle and integrated studies, 3,447 students for the second cycle of studies, 195 candidates for professional studies, and 96 candidates for specialist studies.

Today is the last day to apply to faculties/academies where the entrance exam is scheduled, while the application to faculties/academies where the entrance exam is not scheduled can be done until 5 July 2024.

Enrollment at the University of Sarajevo is an excellent choice for several reasons, and one of the most important ones that makes us stand out in Bosnia and Herzegovina is international cooperation. In 2019, the University of Sarajevo received the prestigious recognition of the European Commission "Excellence in Research" (HR logo "Excellence in Research), the European Commission awarded the University of Sarajevo the Erasmus Charter in Higher Education 2021-2027 (ECHE), and it is a member of the EUPeace Alliance which aims to promote peace, justice and an inclusive society.

The University of Sarajevo is the holder of the prestigious Erasmus Charter in Higher Education (ECHE) for the period 2021-2027, which confirms the quality of international cooperation and opens the door for participation in various Erasmus+ activities.

The University of Sarajevo actively cooperates with many international institutions and organizations and has over 150 bilateral agreements on academic cooperation and 230 agreements within the Erasmus+ program. These agreements enable students and university staff to participate in various mobility programs across Europe. Thanks to such a large number of agreements, one of the most common sentences of our students is: "Where are we going on the next Erasmus?"

The University of Sarajevo offers more than 300 modules and courses in English, which attracts international students and thus enables domestic students to have an exchange experience without leaving the country. Students develop a better understanding and respect for different cultures, improve communication skills and increase cultural competence.

As a member of the EUPeace Alliance, the University of Sarajevo advocates for the promotion of peace, justice and inclusiveness through internationalization. The alliance with the University of Sarajevo consists of the University of Marburg (Germany), University of Giessen (Germany), Comillas Ponteficia University (Spain), Çukurova University (Turkey), University of Mostar (BiH), Calabria University (Italy), University of Limoges (France), West Bohemia University (Czech Republic).

The EUPeace Alliance enables joint work on improving the culture of dialogue and conflict resolution through multidisciplinary approaches. We eagerly await new students who want to contribute to the principles of the EUPeace Alliance!

The aforementioned activities in international cooperation are the key factor that enabled the University of Sarajevo to achieve significant progress and recognition at the global level, and contributed to the growth of the University of Sarajevo in the world rankings of universities.

The QS World University Rankings has published its 21st edition, which includes 1,503 top institutions. The University of Sarajevo is the only university from Bosnia and Herzegovina that is on the QS World University Rankings for 2025, and this year we are witnessing an increase from the rank of 1200-1400 to a position between 1001 and 1200. places. In the QS ranking for Europe, the University of Sarajevo is in the 488th position.

In the ranking of universities for the year 2024 - Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024, which ranks 1,906 universities from 108 countries and regions of the world, the University of Sarajevo is in position 1501+.

Application and registration of candidates to the Competition for admission to the first year of study is carried out online - through the eUNSA Information System and the website www.upisi.unsa.ba.

The second application period for the Competition for admission to the first year of study will last:

 

  • from August 26 to September 6, 2024 for Faculties/Academies where the entrance exam is scheduled
  • from August 26 to September 13, 2024 for Faculties/Academies where no entrance exam is scheduled
  •  

During the application period, candidates can choose up to 3 faculties/academies they want to enroll in, with the possibility of four re-elections during each application period.
