4. UNSA Art Days - musicology and ethnomusicology in focus of the first day of the festival
The fourth edition of the Days of Art festival at the University of Sarajevo was opened by the 16th student forum of students of musicology and ethnomusicology of the Music Academy of the University of Sarajevo, which was also held as part of the program of this year's May music festivities. The program of the forum, which took place on 28 May 2024 in the UNSA Music Academy Small Hall, was divided into two sessions.
In the first, musicologically oriented session, which was moderated by Ena Ibrahimagić, the works were presented by: Melanie Ovenden [Topic: "The importance and influence of ballet on the development of French opera in the 18th century", meters: van. Prof. Dr. Lana Šehović, assistant. M.Sc. Rijad Kaniža], Andrea Marković [Topic: "The influence of German romantic literature on the cycles of piano miniatures 'Papillons' and 'Kreisleriana' by Robert Schumann (1810-1856)", mentors: van. Prof. Dr. Lana Šehović, assistant. M.Sc. Rijad Kaniža], Katarina Dadić, Tea Musić and Najda Nukić [Topic: "Late Romanticism in Germany on the example of Johannes Brahms and Anton Bruckner", mentors: van. Prof. Dr. Lana Šehović, assistant. M.Sc. Rijad Kaniža], and Armin Behrem [Topic: "The relationship between sound, text and movement in the work 'Betroffenheit' by Crystal Pita and Jonathon Young", mentor: van. Prof. Dr. Fatima Hadžić].
Under the auspices of the second session, the focus was ethnomusicological research presented by Alma Subašić [Topic: "Sevdalinka in Sarajevo's urban sound landscape", mentor: ed. Prof. Dr. Tamara Karača Beljak], Jure Miloš [Topic: "Diploma in Western Herzegovina - construction skills", mentor: acc. row Prof. Dr. Jasmina Talam] and Ivan Barać [Theme: "The role of women in the preservation and transmission of the folk musical heritage of Širokobrije region", mentor: acc. row Prof. Dr. Jasmina Talam]. The moderator was Amar Hadžić.
After the student presentations, ethnomusicologist, Prof. Dr. Mehtap Demir from the State Conservatory of Istanbul University held a workshop on "Performance of Anatolian-Turkish folk music examples with 'kemane' instrument". Her visit was realized as part of the Erasmus+ project.
As the final event of the first day of the 4th edition of the Days of Art festival at the University of Sarajevo, a concert of traditional music by the Etnoakademik ensemble, which operates at the UNSA Academy of Music, was held. The program commitment of the work of the Etnoakademik is nurturing and presenting the Bosnian vocal, instrumental and vocal-instrumental musical traditions, secular and spiritual content, rural and urban practice.
