UNSA Academy of Fine Arts: Guest lecture by Ene Mulavdić and Ebrahim Mohammadian Elird
Ena Mulavdić and Ebrahim Mohammadian Elird, a product of the designers and artists behind the unique jewelry brand, Elird, held on December 10, 2021. guest lecture to third-year students of the Department of Product Design of the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Sarajevo as part of classes on the subject of Unique Design I, led by Doz. Mr. Nataša Perković.
Ena Mulavdić graduated from the Product Design Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, and holds a Master's degree in Industrial Design from Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul, where Ibrahim Mohammadian Elird, a native of Tabriz, worked as a jewelry artist and designer. Ena and Ebrahim started cooperation in 2013 in Istanbul. They founded Elird in 2016, and after that they moved to Sarajevo, Ena's hometown.
Elird pieces are wearable works of art, miraculous masterpieces that are created by a spontaneous and intimate process of design that weaves a specific spirit into each product. Elird cultivates his own and extremely rich artistic expression and symbolic language, thematizing the various states of our existence, especially the mutually conditioned polarities such as good and evil, joy and sorrow, love and hate. Elird jewelry is created by an almost alchemical combination of more than thirty crafts and manufacturing processes such as resin modeling, plaster molding, metal casting, precious and semi-precious stone processing, reverse stone carving, miniature painting, engraving, 3D printing, and finishing of various materials.
Ena and Ebrahim have exhibited around the world, and leading fashion and lifestyle magazines such as Vogue, GQ, Vanity Fair and many others have written about their work. They are members of ULUPUBiH and the British Association for Contemporary Jewelry.
At the lecture, Ena and Ebrahim spoke about the conceptual views they nurture, the visual language they have developed, and they have demonstrated and explained many of the over 30 craft techniques they use when making jewelry. They talked about the ways of presenting and promoting their products, and shared their valuable experiences in brand development with students.
