The Laboratory for Geographic Information Systems was established at the Faculty of Forestry, University of Sarajevo
The Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Coordination (TIKA) has implemented another valuable project in the field of education in Bosnia and Herzegovina and established the Laboratory for Geographic Information Systems (GIS lab) at the Faculty of Forestry, University of Sarajevo.
In addition to the Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Coordination (TIKA), the project was supported by the University of Sarajevo through an internal call (Funds of the Federal Ministry of Science and Education - FMNO) and the Association of Forestry Engineers and Technicians of FBiH and of course the Faculty of Forestry.
The coordinator and initiator of this valuable project is Doz. Dr. Admir Avdagić, Faculty of Forestry, University of Sarajevo, who is also the responsible teacher in the subject Geographic Information Systems in Forestry.
The established laboratory is already at the service of teachers, students and forestry experts from practice, and enables the analysis of future risks, preservation of natural balance and conducting various studies for the forestry sector.
The laboratory is primarily intended for students of the Faculty of Forestry, University of Sarajevo and will serve to educate future forestry experts and help more efficient planning, monitoring and management of complex forest ecosystems.
With its content, it is one of the best equipped and most modern laboratories of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
