Prime Minister UK in his farewell visit to Rector Škrijelj: We are proud of the cooperation between UNSA and the Government of KS
The Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Nihad Uk visited the University of Sarajevo today to express his gratitude to Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, for his contribution to the development of the University during the two mandates of 2016-2020. and 2020-2024. The meeting was also attended by Prof. Dr. Dženana Husremović, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Affairs.
“The meeting was held exclusively so that I could express my gratitude to you on behalf of the Government of Sarajevo Canton and the citizens I represent for your serious work and the results you achieved during your two mandates. I want to encourage you to continue to be active in social life and contribute to the community,” stated Prime Minister Uk, during his farewell visit, considering that Rector Škrijelj will soon be leaving this position.
He expressed the hope that future relations between the Government and the University will develop further, and expressed his interest in continuing the activities that Rector Škrijelj had started, especially when it comes to the construction of the University Campus in Sarajevo.
“The best monument of your work will be the Library of the University of Sarajevo, so you have a serious legacy,” said the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia to Rector Škrijelj.
Rector Škrijelj, along with his words of welcome to Prime Minister Uko, emphasized the importance of this meeting for him. “These eight years passed quickly, but they were filled with hard work,” Rector Škrijelj pointed out.
He invited Prime Minister Uko and announced the official inauguration of the newly elected rector, Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović, which will be held on 1 October in the City Hall, at the place where the University of Sarajevo was founded in 1949.
“We are leaving behind a serious endowment and obligation for my colleague Tarik Zaimović and his future team, because the University of Sarajevo remains at a better level than ever, and you, as well as former prime ministers Edin Forto and Dino Konaković, have contributed to that. Both you and I can be proud of the cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and the Government of Sarajevo Canton,” said Rector Škrijelj.
