Language Institute Celebrated the Independence Day by Bosnian Language Open Lecture

The University of Sarajevo Language Institute and the Banja Luka Muftijstvo marked the Independence Day by organizing an open lecture on Bosnian Language which is also a part of the Language Institute Day program activities, as well as marking of the International Mother Tongue Day.
The lecture on topic “Bosnian language in the context of the International Mother Tongue Day” was held in Banja Luka on 1 March 2018.
The introductory word was held by Mufti Dr. Osman ef. Kozić, dealing with the Independence Day, lecture topic, and gave a framework for the topics discussed by the lecturers: Dr. Sc. Alen Kalajdžija, Institute Director, Dr. Sci. Jasmin Hodžić, Mr. Sc. Aida Kršo and writer Hadžem Hajdarević. The Director briefly presented the work of the Institute and then talked about the history of the Bosnian language. Other lecturers spoke about the sociolinguistic aspects in language, contemporary language and language norms, the importance of knowledge, learning and preservation of Bosnian language, language as the fundamental value of identity, cultural and literary tradition, all with the aim of nurturing and preserving Bosnian language, the realization of basic human rights.

The motivating and contentive presentations in inspirational atmosphere, and in the context of Independence Day, have initiated positive energy for shared, devoted and responsible work, learning, advancement and preservation of basic traditional values.
