International Conference “Advances in Traffic and Communication Technologies (ATCT)” at the Faculty of Transport and Communications UNSA
A two-day International Conference “New Trends in Traffic and Communication Technologies (ACTC),” organized by the Faculty of Transport and Communications UNSA and the Institute of Transport and Communications Sarajevo under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Transport of BiH, opened today at the Faculty of Transport and Communications, University of Sarajevo.
The conference brought together a large number of eminent professors, scientists and experts, domestic and international experts from academia and the real sector, who will present innovative solutions in the field of transport and communications while networking scientific and practical resources.
One of the key goals of the conference is to promote innovative solutions in the field of transport and communications while networking scientific and practical resources. The thematic focus and working subtitle of this year's conference is “Digital Transformation and Sustainable Development in Postal and Logistics Systems.”
At the opening, Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dr. Vojin Mitrović pointed out that we are witnesses that digitalization has become a turning point in the business of various industries, and that the digital transformation has not bypassed the postal industry.
“Introduction and strengthening of digitalization of postal services in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially in the context of trusted services and the use of qualified electronic signatures and strengthening cyberspace, is of great importance and is a necessary minimum to establish trust among all participants in digital postal services,” said Minister Mitrović added that the digitalization of postal services in BiH is at the beginning of its transformation and that postal operators are making great efforts to adapt to the global digital transformation.
Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of Sarajevo Canton Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Nikolić emphasized the importance of organizing this conference, and underlined the importance of intensifying cooperation between the academic community and the real sector. “If we do not have that connection with the real sector, then we will have institutions that are isolated, that have the necessary knowledge, but do not have its application, and we will not achieve results,” said Minister Nikolić.
University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj pointed out that the Faculty of Transport and Communications of the University of Sarajevo is a serious leader in terms of creating development projects in the field of traffic communications. He also reminded that informatization and digitalization, entering all pores of our lives, accelerate the primordial changes and the ways in which we observe our society and its organization and structure. “This puts us in front of great challenges in which we also have to seize the opportunities that are in front of us in order to keep pace with modern development." Universities also play an important role in all these processes. That is why I believe that this international conference is an ideal place to look at perspectives and present innovative solutions in the field of transport and communications, and to look at the possibilities of improving traffic in our country from an academic point of view,” said Rector Škrijelj.
UNSA Faculty of Transport and Communications Dean, Prof. Dr. Amel Kosovac said that 25 scientific and professional papers by authors from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia and Northern Macedonia will be presented at the conference.
“The conclusions of the Conference will certainly affect the development of the traffic and communication system in BiH and beyond. Through these scientific and professional papers, a large number of solutions will be offered, which will be found in the Proceedings after the Conference,” said Dean Kosovac.
He emphasized that the Conference is a unique international academic event and a step forward for innovation, flexibility, quality and compliance with the needs and requirements of sustainable development of transport and communication systems.
In order to stimulate quality discussion, the conference was divided into four main sessions with the following thematic titles:
- Green logistics and supply chain management
- Intelligent transport systems
- Sustainability in postal and logistics systems
- Smart city and public city transport
- Security of critical traffic and communication infrastructure
- Innovative and smart technologies in logistics
- Digitization of traffic systems
- Machine learning and big data
- Computer networks and protocols
- Transport network planning
- Railway management and sustainability
- Air traffic management.
The keynote speakers at the conference are Marjan Osvald, Vice President of the Universal Postal Union, Prof. Dr. Nikola Trubint, Vice President of CERP (European Committee for Postal Regulation), Prof. Dr. Nino Ćorić, Director of the Postal Traffic Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Apart from the authors, professors from the Faculty of Transport and Communications also took part in the conference, who are members of the scientific and organizational committee of the conference, representatives of regulators and governments from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the countries of the region.
