Cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and the Dogs Trust Foundation
The program of professional development of veterinary experts, funded by the Dogs Trust Foundation and carried out in cooperation with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Sarajevo, was the topic of the meeting held today at the University of Sarajevo Rectorate.
The Dogs Trust Foundation representatives, president Anel Bećirović and sterilization and training officer Anida Dinarević, met with Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, General Secretary Kenan Filipović and Head of the Accounting and Finance Department Merisa Kurtanović, and discussed the continuation of cooperation and modalities for its improvement.
The goal of the professional training program for veterinary experts is to improve the capacity of the veterinary profession, which is key to the implementation of the measures of the Law on the Protection and Welfare of Animals in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to achieve a permanent and sustainable solution to the problem of stray dogs.
Nearly 450 candidates successfully completed the training, and due to its excellence, it was included in the Lifelong Learning Program of the University of Sarajevo.
Founded in 1891, the Dogs Trust is the UK's largest dog welfare organisation. The representative office in BiH was opened in 2012. In 2022, the Representative Office will grow into the Dogs Trust BiH Foundation.
