From 2 to 4 October 2020, UNSA Institute of History director, Dr. Sedad Bešlija was in Montenegro.
He participated there in the International Scientific Conference, at the invitation of the organizers, on the occasion of the 115th anniversary of the official recognition of Islam in Montenegro entitled “Islam and Muslims in Montenegro” organized by the Meshihat of the Islamic Community in Montenegro.
As the director and a senior research associate in the field of older history - the Ottoman period, Dr. Bešlija presented a paper entitled “Contribution to the study of the past of the kadiluk Novi in the 17th century (until the beginning of the Great Vienna / Moravian War).” It was an introductory paper within the first panel of the conference, which aimed, in the context of the title, to thematize the traces of Islam and Muslims in part of today's southern Montenegro, and the former Herzegovinian Sandžak as part of the Bosnian eyalet. The paper is based on a scientific paper submitted to the organizer of the conference before the event and will soon be published in the Proceedings of the scientific conference.
On the margins of the scientific gathering, Dr. Bešlija donated a set of editions of the Institute of History to the library of the Madrasa “Mehmed Fatih” and conducted expert talks and exchanged opinions and ideas with several participants from Montenegro, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina on future cooperation on similar projects.
