The First Meeting of the Vocation and Science in the Field of Social Protection

Noting the need for a more meaningful link between vocational and scientific workers in the field of social protection, the Ministry of Labor, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees of the Sarajevo Canton launched the project “Meetings of the Professions and Sciences”. On 11 December 2019, at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Sarajevo (UNSA), the first meeting was held on the topic of “Cooperation Perspectives,” which laid the groundwork and defined the further direction of work. The meeting was attended by experts from the Ministry and social welfare institutions, as well as professors, assistants and students from several faculties of the University of Sarajevo.
The meetings were opened by the Faculty of Political Sciences Dean, Prof. Dr. Sead Turčalo, Head of Social Work Department Prof. Dr. Sanela Sadić and Cantonal Minister of the Interior, Malik Garibija.
In addition to Faculty of Political Sciences professors, the meeting was attended by representatives from the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Philosophy, as well as representatives of all institutions in the field of social protection in Sarajevo Canton. The meetings of the profession and science will continue on a multidisciplinary and thematic basis and in the future, at least on a quarterly basis.
Within the perspectives of cooperation, other activities were agreed, such as additional University experts education, publishing scientific bases, supporting a professional journal, establishing a list of research topics of interest for social welfare institutions for the needs of masters and doctoral theses, establishing cooperation on applied research projects, etc.
The participants praised the project and unanimously supported the continuation, stating that it should be replicated in other areas.
