UNSA Faculty of Philosophy UNSA - The Anniversary of Death of a Great Turkish Poet Mehmet Akif Ersoy Marked
At the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Philosophy on 11 January 2024, a special program was held dedicated to the great Turkish poet Mehmet Akif Ersoy, the author of the Turkish national anthem, who witnessed the turning points for the Turkish people in the War of Independence and in his poems immortalized the strength and the determination of the Turkish people in the fight for freedom.
In addition to the students and teachers of Departments of Turkish Language and Oriental Philology, the program was also attended by representatives of the institutions of the Republic of Turkey in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the head of the delegation was the charge d'affaires of the Embassy, Mr. Emre Gençtuğ.
After the welcoming speeches of representatives of the Faculty and the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey, the students performed a program in which they presented the life and work of Mehmet Akif Ersoy and read his poetry.
In addition to the students of the Department of Turkish Language, students of the International University in Sarajevo and students of the Third lyceum who study Turkish as a second foreign language also participated.
