Meeting between University of Sarajevo Rector and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain Academic - Cooperation and support for the Spanish language study
Providing support for the study of the Spanish language, as well as contributing to the academic-institutional development and improvement of language and literature studies at the University of Sarajevo, was the topic of the meeting between Mrs. E. María Teresa Lizaranza Perinat, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain, and Prof. Dr . Rifat Škrijelja, University of Sarajevo Rector.
Mr. José Luís Martín-Yagüe, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain, Mr. Zlatko Sarić, Counselor for Culture at the Embassy, Prof. Dr. Enita Nakaš, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, assistant Prof. Dr. Minka Džanko, Vice-Dean for Research, International Academic Cooperation and Publishing, Faculty of Philosophy UNSA, Prof. Dr . Edina Spahić Šagolj, Head of the Spanish Language Department at the Faculty of Philosophy, UNSA, Dr. Jasna Bošnović, head of the UNSA International Cooperation Service, and M.Sc. Adnan Rahimić, senior expert associate for international cooperation.
Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, along with his welcome, expressed his gratitude for the visit and expressed intention to improve cooperation.
During the meeting, they discussed the renewal of the Cooperation Agreement, which was signed in 2013, and which foresees a position for one Spanish language professor at the Department of Romance Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo.
The Ambassador of Spain to BiH, María Teresa Lizaranzu Perinat, pointed out that in Bosnia and Herzegovina, three Spanish language lectureships have been opened at the universities in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, and Mostar.
The formation of the Cervantes Classroom at the UNSA Faculty of Philosophy was also discussed, which would represent a center for independent learning of the Spanish language, intended for all those interested in the Spanish language and culture related to the Spanish spoken expression. The work of the classroom would be coordinated by the Cervantes Institute, an institution founded in Spain in 1991.
The meeting ended with expressed mutual willingness and openness to strengthen the previous cooperation, which was assessed as extremely successful.
