The UNSA Faculty of Philosophy signed a Cooperation Agreement with Cornell University
In May 2024, the University of Sarajevo - Faculty of Philosophy and Cornell University (Ithaca, New York) signed an Agreement on cooperation and implementation of the "Global Student Internship" program. Cornell University is one of the eight universities of the prestigious Ivy League, the most prestigious universities in the USA.
This Agreement is the result of many years of cooperation of Professor Larisa Kasumagić-Kafedžić, associate professor at the Department of English and president of the Center for Peace Education Hub, who earned a master's degree in educational sciences and international development at Cornell University and spent several years as a Fulbright scholar within two programs Hubert Humphrey Fellowship (2003-2004) and Fulbright Visiting Scholar (2022-2023) at different faculties of Cornell University.
The importance of this cooperation, which was wholeheartedly supported by the Faculty of Philosophy, will enable students to develop their research and intercultural competences through joint work, international connection and recognition of the global role of education in societies and communities, thus continuing the multi-year cooperation that establishes bridges between American and Bosnian culture.
As part of this Agreement, students Myka Melville and Fiona Neibart will spend 6 weeks on a student internship where they will be involved in research and project activities carried out at the Center for Peace Education (https://peacehub.ba/news/).
Doz. Dr. Minka Džanko, Vice-Dean for International Cooperation at University of Sarajevo Faculty of Philosophy, welcomed the Cornell University students and pointed out the importance of institutionalizing international cooperation and exchange with American universities, and the active involvement of students in our research projects.
