The University of Sarajevo promoted 47 Doctors of Sciences

The promotion of the UNSA Doctors of Sciences took place on 22 December 2022, at the National Theater in Sarajevo.

Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, University of Sarajevo Rector, UNSA Vice-Rectors and Faculty Deans promoted 47 PhD candidates into Doctors of Sciences from fields belonging to the humanities, social, medical, technical, natural-mathematical and biotechnical sciences groups.

Rector Škrijelj opened the ceremony with a welcome address, emphasizing that today, in addition to recognition and well-deserved congratulations, 47 doctoral students are taking on new and more complex responsibilities as an indispensable part of a valuable academic achievement.

“Your path of academic advancement and improvement continues, but now you also take on part of the burden of responsible social engagement in the protection and promotion of knowledge about science as one of the key conditions for general social progress and development, as well as strengthening the awareness of the wider social community about the importance of scientific and research work and of higher education for the promising future of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Rector Škrijelj.

He also told the doctoral students to remain committed to scientific, academic and professional excellence, which should guide them in personal and professional advancement, in building their authority based on knowledge, and in the development of their potential should be incorporated into positive processes and thereby change reality for the better. our society.

“As a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a parent, as a professor and scientific worker, I would have a lot more to share with you at this solemn moment. Nevertheless, I think that the most important thing is to emphasize the need, but also my sincere, human, desire, that you are guided in your academic, scientific and professional activities by the values and principles of the founders of our University, which are the unshakable faith in unity and anti-fascism as fundamental assumptions of civilization. humane development of our, but also global society,” Rector Škrijelj pointed out with congratulations.

The Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth KS Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Nikolić pointing out that today we celebrate their achievements, with which they start a new era in their lives, but we also celebrate achievements in building creative and innovative capacities and potential of our homeland Bosnia and Herzegovina. "Because you are the strength that we all count on and therefore we expect a lot from you", stressed Minister Nikolić.

Striving towards a knowledge society, the University of Sarajevo promoted: 6 candidates into Doctors of Economic and Dental Sciences, 5 candidates into Doctors of Health and Medical Sciences, 4 candidates into Doctors of Technical Sciences, 3 candidates into Doctors of Political Sciences, 2 candidates in to doctors of Islamic, social, agricultural, legal, chemical and veterinary sciences, and 1 candidate into Doctor of communication, sociology, security, pharmaceutical, mathematical and biological sciences.

On behalf of the promoted UNSA Doctors of Sciences, Dr. Melika Arifhodžić and Dr. Halim Alibašić addressed the attendees.
