Bosnian Language Open Lecture within the International Mother Tongue Day

Tribina o bosanskom jeziku u kontekstu Međunarodnog dana maternjeg jezika

On the occasion of marking the International Mother Tongue Day, the Language Institute representatives held an open lecture in the Great Hall of the Municipality of Vareš on 22 February 2018, "Bosnian Language within the International Mother Tongue Day.” The lecture was organized by the Bosniak Cultural Community “Preporod Vareš” in cooperation with Islamic Community Medžlis Vareš. On behalf of the Institute participated: M.Sc. Haris Ćatović, writer Hadžim Hajdarević, Drs. Jasmin Hodžić and Alen Kalajdžija. In addition to a brief historical review, they presented the Bosnian language, its status and development, relations within the linguistic family, and the fostering of the Bosnian language through the centuries. Many problems were clarified, many uncertainties explained and a significant contribution was made to the awareness of keeping and nurturing the mother tongue.
