German premiere of Concerto TransH (You) Man by Hanan Hadzajlic
Bassoonist James Aylward (Australia/The Netherlands) gave a solo concert called A Tree's Wood is also its Memoire as a part of the Unerhörte Musik Contemporary Music Concert Series at the Berlin BKA Theater on 15 October 2019. In addition to works by composers such as Enno Poppe, Liza Lim, Georg Katzer, Pierluigi Billone, Jesse Ronneau, this internationally renowned bassoon player also performed the Concerto TransH(You) Man for bassoon and bass drum, composed by Hanan Hadžajlić of the Academy of Music in Sarajevo.
The three-piece composition Concerto TransH(You) Man (2017) was originally composed for bass clarinet and bass drum and premiered as part of the Nicati Competition in Switzerland (2017) by Azra Ramić. As Hanan Hadžajlić's first composition that includes two instruments for one performer, Concerto TransH (You) Man also makes the first composition in her oeuvre Transhuman Music: Machine Music for Acoustic Instruments. Commissioned by James Aylward, this composition has been adapted for bassoon and bass drum and has achieved its German premiere in Berlin.
