Faculty of Economics Forensic Accounting Center Opening
FIRST CENTER FOR FORENSIC ACCOUNTING IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
The Faculty of Economics, University of Sarajevo and the US Government are implementing a project FORENSIC ACCOUNTING CAPACITY BUILDING IN BIH
The Faculty of Economics, University of Sarajevo (EFSA), with the support of the United States Government (USA), opens the first in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Center for Forensic Accounting (CFA). The formal opening will be held on 6 February 2020, at 12 noon, at Skenderija 35, Sarajevo.
The CFA was established as part of a three-year project (31/07/2019 – 30/07/2022): Forensic Accounting Capacity Building in Bosnia and Herzegovina, funded by the US Department of State - Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL), with a grant of 533,271.00 USD.
The purpose of this grant is to support the Faculty of Economics, University of Sarajevo in developing sustainable education programs in the field of forensic accounting, which include a professional certification program for forensic accountants in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as a two-year Master study program in Forensic Accounting and Investigation. Currently, there is no possibility of obtaining a professional forensic accountant position in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and there is no possibility of obtaining a university diploma in the first or second cycle of education in the field of forensic accounting, which consequently results in a lack of trained forensic accountants, threatening the activities of government and private sectors to detect and combat fraud, thereby undermining efforts to support the rule of law.
