Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the European Youth Olympic Festival - EYOF 2019 and the Novi Sad University
The Universities of Sarajevo and Novi Sad renewed the previously signed Agreement on academic cooperation aiming at promoting academic, educational and cultural cooperation between the two institutions on Saturday, 19 May 2018.
An agreement concluded for an indefinite period was signed by Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, University of Sarajevo Rector and Prof. Dr. Dušan Nikolić, University of Novi Sad Rector. The Agreement envisages the implementation of cooperation through networking and the mutual exchange of teachers, researchers, students and other staff for the purpose of lecturing, visiting and sharing experiences; joint participation and registration for funds intended for educational, research and artistic activities; joint activities in the field of education, training and research, organization of conferences, symposia, congresses, seminars, courses, summer schools, workshops; exchange of professional literature, textbooks and other university publications, etc.
Prof. Škrijelj, University of Sarajevo Rector, pointed out that networking and the regional unification of all significant scientific institutions’ scientific capacities is one of the basic strategic objectives of the University of Sarajevo. “As the crown achievement of cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and the University of Novi Sad, which has been strengthened through the implementation of a series of academic and scientific research projects, today's signing greatly enhances the attainment of the highest academic standards and scientific and artistic skills in the field of creation and affirmation of new knowledge and scientific knowledge.” Emphasizing the importance of signing the Agreement between EYOF 2019 and the University of Novi Sad, Rector Škrijelj appealed to the wider social community and all levels of government to do everything together to hold such an important youth festival and Olympics spirit in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the best possible way, so it would be a big milestone and hint of a better social perspective.
“By signing the Agreement on academic cooperation, we are beginning a new era when it comes to cooperation between our two universities in the field of science and higher education,” said University of Novi Sad Rector, Prof. Nikolić, and stated that there is an interest of both institutions to intensify the exchange of faculty members and students.
In the second part of the ceremony, the Agreement on business cooperation and partnership between the European Youth Olympic Festival 2019 - EYOF 2019 and the University of Novi Sad was signed. In a Memorandum, signed by Prof. Nikolić, University of Novi Sad Rector and Mr. Senahid Godinjak, EYOF 2019 Director, the readiness for various types of continuous reciprocal business cooperation and partnership in order to successfully prepare for the organization and maintenance of the European Youth Olympic Festival in 2019 was expressed, including the cooperation to take place through various types of business, organizational, professional, educational, scientific and operational cooperation and partnership.
University of Novi Sad Rector, Prof. Dr. Dušan Nikolić pointed out that signing the Agreement with EYOF 2019 is a unique opportunity for young people from Novi Sad to spend some time in Sarajevo, to contribute to the practical realization of this important project, as well as to meet their counterparts from Sarajevo.
