Sarajevo Schools Students Visited the National and University Library of BiH on the Occasion of the Month of the Book
01/11/2019 – in promoting the importance of book, its role in the education and construction of individual identities, and its importance in everyday life is the primary goal of marking the month of the book.
Having recognized the importance of the National and University Library of BiH as a cultural, educational and scientific institution, the teaching staff of the Transport and Communication High School and “Isak Samokovlija” Primary School from Sarajevo, with their students visited the National and University Library of BiH during the month of the book marked with us and in the world.
During the visit Mr. Sc. Merima Lendo, Head of Sector for Information and Customer Service delivered a short lecture on the NUBBiH history and the credibility the book or written word deserves.
Students are introduced to the work of this Institution, its goals, tasks, functions and services that it offers, especially the part related to working with Library users.
The visit to the NUBBIH Center for Restoration, Preservation and Conservation of Library Material, as well as other segments of this Institution, primarily the places of their interest, such as general reading rooms, reading rooms for old periodicals, and catalogs was made possible.
The students had the opportunity to see the incunabula (a book, pamphlet, or broadside printed in Europe before the year 1501) owned by NUBBiH, which date from the 15th century.
In a dynamic present day, full of achievements, technological advancements, diverse knowledge, the book is a faithful companion of man, irreplaceable and precious. It is said that the books contain all the wisdom of the world, so let us share it with each other, concluded Mr. Sc. Merima Lendo.
