International Symposium “Man - Forest – Science” started on the occasion of marking the 70th Faculty of Forestry anniversary
A three-day international symposium “Man - Forest – Science” (PEFOSS) started in Holiday hotel on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, within celebrating the UNSA Faculty of Forestry’s 70th anniversary.
The Symposium gathered more than 250 participants, where lectures were delivered by some of the world's leading experts in the field of forestry and horticulture from Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Italy, Poland, Germany, Great Britain, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, Switzerland, Portugal, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Faculty of Forestry Dean, Prof. Dr. Mirza Dautbašić, who in the introductory address gave recognition to all those who have created this “temple of knowledge" in the past 70 years, the chief institution of higher education in BiH, and emphasized the importance of the Faculty of Forestry in our society and history.
For over 70 years, the Faculty of Forestry cooperates with universities, institutes and organizations from all over the world dealing with forestry and horticulture, resulting in joint projects, new knowledge and perspectives. One of such fruitful cooperation was also realized with the General Directorate of Forestry of the Republic of Turkey.
“Cooperation between the Faculty of Forestry in Sarajevo and the General Directorate of Forestry of the Republic of Turkey is of great importance, among other things, as much as this 70th anniversary. It points to the great capacities of our two institutions” said Bekir Karacabey, Director General of the Republic of Turkey Forestry Directorate.
The International Symposium "Man - Forest -Science" - (PEFOSS) in the coming days will enable the exchange of the latest results, ideas, knowledge and experiences in the field of forestry and horticulture.
It is one of a series of celebratory events that UNSA Faculty of Forestry, one of the oldest higher education institutions in BiH, organizes within marking the 70th anniversary.
