Visit of “Aleksandar Solzenjicin” Home Representatives
On the occasion of the handing over of books to the Faculty of Philosophy, the University of Sarajevo was visited by Mr. Piotr Frolov, Minister Advisor at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in BiH, Ms. Tatjana Jurjevna Irinarhova, coordinator for the Balkan programs of the Russian Academy of Arts “Alexander Solzhenitsyn” and the writer Aleksei Nikolayevich Varlamov, rector of the Literature Institue “Maksim Gorki”, where they met with Rector, Prof. Rifat Škrijelj and Vice-Rector Prof. Aleksandra Nikolić. The meeting was also attended by Doz. dr. Adijata Ibrišimović, Head of the Department of Slavic Languages and Literature at the Faculty of Philosophy, and Mr. Sci. Safet Kešo, a member of the teaching staff of the Department.
During the meeting, they discussed possibilities for academic cooperation with Russian higher education institutions, promotion of Russian scholarships at the University of Sarajevo and other issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting, Ms. Tatiana Irinarchova presented the House of Russian Oblivion and the idea of founding this institution. She also referred to the role of Alexander Solzhenitsyn in the idea and realization of the unification of both Russia, and she also presented in detail the humanitarian program “Help in Books”, within which between thirty and forty thousand books are donated to faculties and departments where Russian language is taught and literature.
Rector Škrijelj, with the words of gratitude, emphasized the great importance and contribution that this donation presents to the books both for the Faculty of Philosophy and for the University of Sarajevo as a whole.
The meeting was an opportunity to consider the possibilities of cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and the Institute of Literature “Maksim Gorki” and willingness to sign the cooperation agreement was expressed.
