University of Sarajevo and Four Theatres Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreements
The University of Sarajevo and the Academy of Performing Arts of the University of Sarajevo today officially established teaching bases in four leading theatre institutions in the capital – the National Theatre Sarajevo, the Sarajevo War Theatre SARTR, the Chamber Theatre 55 and the Youth Theatre Sarajevo. The signing of the agreement was attended and officially confirmed by the Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of the Sarajevo Canton, Prof. Dr. Dušanka Bošković, and the Minister of Culture and Sports of the Sarajevo Canton, Kenan Magoda.
This act established a systemic and formalized bridge between academic education and live theatre practice for the first time in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Students of the Academy of Performing Arts will now be directly involved in the processes of creation, production and performance within professional theatre institutions, and will actively participate in contemporary artistic and artistic research projects.
The agreement brings concrete changes: more intensive connection of the teaching process with the professional environment, development of joint productions and professional practices, and launching artistic research that will contribute to the overall cultural life of Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is particularly significant that the partnership opens up new opportunities for the development of artistic and research work as one of the strategic directions of development of the University of Sarajevo and strengthens the connection between the academic community and cultural institutions.
Theaters thus cease to be just places of performance and become spaces of learning, research and innovation in which new generations of BiH artists, researchers and cultural workers will be formed.
With this partnership, all parties confirm their joint commitment to improving the quality of education, developing contemporary artistic practices and building a sustainable framework for the future of culture in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
