“Sixty Years of Education of Social Workers in Bosnia and Herzegovina” International Conference
On the occasion of marking the 60th anniversary of education of social workers in Bosnia and Herzegovina, an international conference was organized at the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Sarajevo on 11 October 2018.
The conference was opened by Dean Prof Filandra, who talked about previous results in the education of social workers. In his address, the Head of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Bruce G. Berton, stressed that with the support of the OSCE, an association of social workers at the state level in Bosnia and Herzegovina was formed, which is especially significant for the development of the profession.
Conference participants were academics and practitioners from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Great Britain, Serbia and Macedonia, and students and students from the Department of Social Work at the Faculty of Political Sciences at the University of Sarajevo.
The conference pointed to the achievements in the education of social workers so far and exchanged practical experiences. An important part of the conference is dedicated to the new challenges, place and role of social work in contemporary society.
This jubilee was an opportunity to award special acknowledgments for contribution in the education of social workers, namely to: Prof. Dr. Muhamed Dervišbegović (posthumously), Prof. Dr. Suada Buljubašić and Mrs. Bahra Pribilović.
