Outstanding performance at the European University Games | Reception for karate representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina and students of the University of Sarajevo
Today, a reception was organized in the University of Sarajevo’s Rectorate for karate representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina: Hamza Turulja and Ilma Rahmanović, UNSA students, on the occasion of their outstanding performance at the European University Games held in Miskolc, Hungary. The reception was organized by the University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, and the meeting was attended by Admir Zukan, secretary general of the BiH Karate Association and coach of the University Karate Club “Bosna” Sarajevo, and Prof. Dr. Safet Kapo from the UNSA Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, trainer for improving performance and achieving better results in KBV "Orkan-F".
Hamza Turulja, a student of the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education, University of Sarajevo, a member of the University Karate Club "Bosna" and a representative of the University of Sarajevo, won a silver medal in the category up to 84 kilograms.
Ilma Rahmanović, who completed the first cycle of studies at the Faculty of Health Studies of the University of Sarajevo, is a member of the Karate Club "Ilidža" and was also a representative of the University of Sarajevo at the European University Games. She won a bronze medal in the category up to 68 kilograms.
In addition to the awarded athletes, the team that participated in the European University Games included Ramiz Potur, the coach of the "Ilidža" Karate Club.
Rector Škrijelj congratulated the students on their outstanding results, stressing that these significant successes represent a top contribution to the sports reputation of the University of Sarajevo, but also of the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also pointed out that the University is proud of their achievements and stressed the importance of continuous support for student-athletes. "The University of Sarajevo recognizes the importance of sports as an integral part of the education and development of our young people", stated Rector Škrijelj and emphasized that they will continue to look for systemic solutions in order to provide them with adequate support in the future.
