Jointly improve the education and teaching in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Meeting between University of Sarajevo and University of Mostar Rectors
The joint position of public universities with the aim of advancing higher education and science in Bosnia and Herzegovina was the occasion of the visit by the University of Mostar delegation led by Rector Prof. Dr. Zoran Tomić, and Chairman of the Rector's Conference of BiH and talks with the University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj and University of Sarajevo Vice Rectors.
Bilateral discussion was also used to exchange information with the aim of affirming the support to scientific and research activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing the importance of enhancing and strengthening inter - university cooperation, and considering the possibilities of further strengthening through raising the quality of teaching process, scientific research and internationalization. In this regard, both delegations confirmed the need and commitment to affirm participation in academic projects and organize joint doctoral studies, which are seen not only as knowledge instruments, but as the promotion factors of fundamental academic and humanistic values.
Referring to the work of the University of Mostar and the Rector's Conference of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Rector Tomić said that all public universities in BiH cope with similar problems, and have need to supplement and synergize. While pointing out that the University of Sarajevo is the most important university in Bosnia and Herzegovina with immense capacities from which other public universities have developed, Rector Tomić presented the successful cooperation of the University of Mostar Faculties with the University of Sarajevo.
“We have an obligation both as a Rectors' Assembly and as universities to raise our higher education and to a higher level of education, and to make Bosnia and Herzegovina competitive in European processes” said Rector Tomić.
The words of support and openness for cooperation were sent by Rector Škrijelj, and he emphasized the importance of mutual harmonization of all public universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina on fundamental issues of strategic importance for the development of higher education and science in our country whose solution will be the subject of joint action of the academic community in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Both Rectors pledged their support for the consideration of these topics.
