At the World Championships held in Stuttgart in early November, Nirhad Mašić, freshman student at the UNSA Faculty of Forestry, defended the title of senior karate champion in the senior category, over 75 kilograms.
This event was occasion for a special ceremony held today at the Faculty of Forestry in Sarajevo, during which Prof. Dr. Mirza Dautbašić, Dean presented a symbolic gift and a monetary award from the Faculty Management Board and the staff of the Faculty.
“This is the nicer part of being the Faculty Dean. I sincerely congratulate to Nirhad Mašić, a freshman student at our Faculty who has been able to do the hard part of the job - defend the world champion title. Within their possibilities, the Faculty of Forestry employees prepared a cash prize for our student. In addition, we will inform the Rectorate, the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Education and Youth and the Government and request that they award the Nirhad Mašić World Gold appropriately. We are grateful to Nirhad for representing Bosnia and Herzegovina in the best possible way, but also to the Faculty of Forestry and the University of Sarajevo on the world stage. Professors, assistants, as well as colleagues from the first year will help Nirhad to harmonize his student and sports duties” said Prof. Dr. Dautbašić.
World champion Nirhad Mašić thanked for the gift and award and pointed out that he was preparing for the World Cup in Stuttgart long and seriously.
“The competition was strenuous. By the finals, I was listing all the victories, and the crown was, of course, the final fight in which I defeated a competitor from Serbia. For me, the World Cup has been completed in the best possible way, and now I promise that I will devote myself as much as possible to my student obligations and dedicate myself to book and learning” said Mašić.
