Exhibition of works by students of the Faculty of Architecture, University of Sarajevo “Market on the Campus of the University of Sarajevo” opened
A presentation and an open exhibition of student works were held at the Children's Home in Grbavica, which are the result of cooperation between the University of Sarajevo - the Faculty of Architecture and the Campus Development Center of the University of Sarajevo in 2020/2021.
Students of the first year of the second cycle, within the elective study "Modern spatial capacities, design and prototype" had the task to design the market of the University Campus in Sarajevo, as a public space intended for users of all ages for various social activities. The project task involved the conception of the UNSA Campus market as a unique spatial unit in which rows of modular public facilities and open spaces alternate.
Before the presentation of student works, Faculty of Architecture Dean, Prof. Dr. Erdin Salihović and the Mayor of Novo Sarajevo Dr. Hasan Tanović made address. Special emphasis was placed on support for projects and activities of the University of Sarajevo, within which the Faculty of Architecture also operates, as well as for students who achieve enviable success in their work. This is the initial step in the cooperation between this faculty and the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo, all with the aim of improving the public space.
On this occasion, the works "Market UNSA" by students Elmina Deljo and Melisa Džafić and "Sarajevo market - Contemporary spatial concept" by students Adna Halilović and Amna Đebo were presented.
Both the first and the second work are based on the project task that needs to be designed, in accordance with the conditions of the location and the desired ambiance, in a way that allows use throughout all seasons, during the day and evening. The principles of sustainability and flexibility were also taken into account.
The Municipality of Novo Sarajevo provided symbolic cash prizes to the students whose works were evaluated with the highest marks, and which will certainly be a valuable incentive for the continuation of their education and training.
