Enroll Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sarajevo - Contribution to the development of the health care system and the improvement of the health of the population
The Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sarajevo was founded on 16 November 1973.
Following the modern trends of higher education in the field of pharmacy and the principles of the Bologna Declaration, at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sarajevo, since the academic year 2009/10. The concept of the study "5 + 0 + 3" was implemented in 2006 with the application of the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS). By passing all the planned exams of the integrated I and II cycle of studies and defending the final thesis, the student acquires 300 ECTS and the title of Master of Pharmacy.
Through an integrated five-year study at the Faculty, a master's degree in pharmacy is formed, trained to work in all areas related to design, production, control, distribution and marketing, as well as economical and rational application of drugs. Students are also trained to: communicate with the patient, other health professionals and the public in order to inform, counsel and educate about medicine and rational pharmacotherapy and healthy eating and lifestyle in order to promote health; application and importance of analytical methods in quality control of medicines, food and articles of general use and analytical toxicology; application and importance of laboratory analyzes for diagnosis, monitoring and prognosis of diseases; and optimizing pharmacotherapy. The Faculty also organizes doctoral studies and participates in the implementation of specialist professional education programs for masters of pharmacy. Through the continuity of scientific research projects and cooperation with scientific research institutions in the country and abroad, the Faculty inherits the tradition of continuous improvement of pharmaceutical science and practice.
The Faculty of Pharmacy is also part of the professional specialization education program, where students from various fields of pharmacy are educated through teaching and experimental tasks. The Master of Pharmacy specializes in various disciplines in various fields of pharmacy: analytical and forensic toxicology, bromatology, diet therapy and clinical nutrition, pharmaceutical informatics and pharmacoeconomics, pharmaceutical technology, pharmaceutical health care, phytopharmacy, drug testing and control, clinical pharmacy, and medical biochemistry, and as a health worker he works in the field of health, so that these specializations are regulated by the regulations of the Federal Ministry of Health.
The Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Sarajevo is a member of the International Association of Faculties of Pharmacy (EAFP).
Special attention is paid to excellence in teaching and scientific research. Faculty teachers are leaders and participants in a large number of international and domestic scientific research projects. The integrated study of the I and II cycle of pharmacy studies provides a multidisciplinary approach to learning, as well as quality professional education that takes place at the Faculty of Pharmacy and other institutions. Masters of Pharmacy and other graduates of the Faculty of Health Care are enabled to continue their academic and professional education in doctoral and specialist studies. Through innovated study programs, we strive to transfer our knowledge and experience and thus educate future masters of pharmacy as top experts recognized worldwide. Since the founding of the Faculty of Pharmacy, an extremely large number of domestic and international research projects in the field of pharmacognosy, drug analytics, pharmaceutical technology, pharmaceutical biochemistry and laboratory diagnostics, pharmaceutical chemistry, toxicology, pharmacology and clinical pharmacy, chemistry in pharmacy, bromatology and nutrition, social and pharmaceutical legislation.
Today, ten departments have been established at the Faculty of Pharmacy: Department of Pharmaceutical Biochemistry and Laboratory Diagnostics, Department of Drug Analysis, Department of Toxicology, Department of Bromatology and Nutrition, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Department of Social Pharmacy, Pharmaceuticals and Pharmaceuticals. Department of Pharmacognosy, Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacy, Department of Chemistry in Pharmacy.
The mission of the Faculty is to use modern educational and research methods to educate masters of general pharmacy, trained to responsibly and competently perform all segments of pharmaceutical activities related to drugs, as well as food and food supplements, cosmetics, biochemical diagnostic methods and modern analytical methods. Trained in this way, experts will actively contribute to the development of the health care system and the improvement of the health of the population. The vision of the Faculty is to secure the position of Master of Pharmacy as an equal member of the health team.
