The University of Sarajevo exceeded expectations in the first enrolment call
With 5,717 applications in the first enrolment call, the University of Sarajevo achieved remarkable results in the enrollment policy implementation, as in this year, in Sarajevo Canton, 3,732 graduates completed secondary schools in four years and thus acquired the right to apply for the competition.
An open competition was opened for 6,909 places, and by 5 June 2018 at 4:00 pm there were 5,717 applications, representing an 83% interest rate in the first application deadline. Considering the fact that the competition allowed applying to several Faculties, it was determined by the analysis that 4,546 candidates (65,8% of vacant places planed by the call) applied for the contest, which submitted 5,717 applications for the competition. Although there was a great public interest in multiple applications, the first application deadline turned out to be that majority of candidates submitted one application for the competition (3,569 candidates or 78.51%).

The number of 4,546 candidates speaks about the real success of the University of Sarajevo and the interest coming from Canton Sarajevo. The fact that this year, the graduates had time to think about the choice of studies and considered their options for enrollment, confirming the competition application dynamics, from which it is visible that by 25 June 2018 there were 2,652 applications (or 38%) while in the following week the number rose to 5.712 (or 83%). The competition was announced on 8 June 2018.
When multiple applications were in question, the largest number was with two applications - 805 applications or 17.71%, followed by three applications - 160 or 3.52%, and with 4 applications - 11 or 0.24%. Only one candidate submitted six applications for the competition.

The biggest interest is for the technical sciences, where the number of applications in relation to the number of planed places exceeds 36%. Areas where there is a greater interest than the number of places planed within the competition call are Arts with 16% more applicants, and Medical science with 9% more reported than the number of places planed within the competition call.
