Social Crisis and Social Work - 'Buen Vivir': A Shared Future for Transformative Change
The Fourth Scientific Conference was held at the UNSA Faculty of Political Sciences "SOCIAL CRISIS AND SOCIAL WORK - 'Buen Vivir': A common future for transformative change." The conference was held on the occasion of the 27th World Day of Social W and organized by the Department of Social Work.
The World Social Work Day, by decision of the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), is celebrated every third Tuesday in March. The goal of celebrating this day is to raise awareness about social work and the roles and tasks of social workers and other professionals employed in social protection institutions and other institutions.
The UNSA Faculty of Political Sciences Department of Social Work started marking the World Social Work Day in 2012, and from 2021 on this occasion organizes a conference “Social Crisis and Social Work,” adding each year to the title of the conference a common theme adopted by IFSW.
The theme and motto of this year's 27th World Social Work Day is “Buen Vivir': Shared future for transformative change,” and therefore the goal of the conference was to contribute to thinking about the application of the principle of 'Buen Vivir', that is, a way of life in harmony with the community, with ourselves and most importantly with nature, and in accordance with the guidelines of the Global Agenda for Social Work and Social Development 2020-2023. The focus was on the challenges faced by contemporary communities in terms of sustainability and reflections on the fundamental needs and rights of vulnerable groups and individuals, and the possibilities of their realization.
In the work of the Fourth Scientific Conference “SOCIAL CRISIS AND SOCIAL WORK - 'Buen Vivir': Shared future for transformative change” 40 exhibitors participated in 29 presentations divided into six panels. Plenary presentation at the conference on the topic “Towards a post-crisis welfare state in Central and Southeastern Europe: Perspectives for transformational changes,” was held by Prof. Dr. Maja Gerovska Mitev from the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of "St. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje.
The conference was an opportunity to present, discuss and critically review innovative policies, programs and approaches of professional social work in promoting and advocating an eco-social world that thrives on inclusion, mutual understanding and respect for human rights.
The organizing committee of the conference consisted of: Prof. Dr. Borjana Miković, Prof. Dr. Sanela Bašić, Prof. Dr. Dževad Termiz and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anida Dudić Siamija.
