The research project “The Face of Medieval Bosnia - 3D face Reconstruction Based on Genetic Information from Archaeobiological Samples” results presented in Jajce

U sklopu manifestacije obilježavanja 562. godišnjice krunisanja posljednjeg bosanskog kralja Stjepana Tomaševića u gradu Jajcu predstavljeni su rezultati naučnoistraživačkog projekta "Lice srednjovjekovne Bosne" - 3D rekonstrukcija lica na bazi genetičkih informacija iz arheobioloških uzoraka”, a koji se temelji na rezultatima arheoloških istraživanja provedenih u Divičanima na području opštine Jajce. As part of the event celebrating the 562nd Anniversary of the coronation of the last Bosnian king Stjepan Tomašević in Jajce, the results of the research project “The Face of Medieval Bosnia - 3D face Reconstruction Based on Genetic Information from Archaeobiological Samples,” which is based on the results of archaeological research conducted in Divičani in Jajce.

The results of the project were presented by members of the archeoDNA interdisciplinary scientific research team of the University of Sarajevo: Prof. Dr. Jasmina Čakar, scientific advisor of the Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of the University of Sarajevo in the capacity of project leader, then Ass. Prof. Dr. Edin Bujak from the Department of Archeology of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Selma Zukić from the Faculty of Dentistry with the Dental Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, Dr. Sci. Mirela Džehverović, scientific associate of the Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology UNSA as a member of the team, and Prof. Dr. Naris Pojskić, scientific advisor of the Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology UNSA in the capacity of coordinator of the archaeoDNA group.

After an interesting presentation of the project, as well as current and future activities of the group, the audience asked questions that showed that the research topic is interesting not only to the scientific community, but also to the general public. The presenters conveyed the intention of the University of Sarajevo to donate this exhibit or another one made from Divičani to Jajce, where it will be exhibited as part of the museum's medieval exhibition.

The project was supported by the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth of Sarajevo Canton through the Public Call for co-financing of scientific research projects and programs for the 2021.
