BH Rectors’ Conference of BiH: Education workers need to be included in the system of vaccination priorities against COVID-19
The BH Rectors’ Conference, which brings together the rectors of eight public universities due to extreme sensitivity, importance, but also exposure, calls on the competent entity and cantonal authorities to put staff working in education from preschool, primary, secondary and higher education in the priority system in COVID-19 vaccination.
The BH Rectors’ Conference starts from the fact that these employees are highly exposed to the risks of disease due to direct contact in larger groups while performing their duties. Therefore, it would be socially justified and reasonable to put educators in the first priorities for vaccination and thus ensure the normal functioning of the education system.
In the belief that we understand the importance of this appeal, the rectors of public universities thank the competent authorities for their help and kindness, is the message from today's session of the Rectors’ Conference of Bosnia and Herzegovina held online under the chairmanship of the University of Zenica, Dr. Damir Kukić.
In addition to the appeal, one of the items on the agenda was information on the implementation of classes in the summer semester where rectors exchanged experiences on how to hold classes given the epidemiological situation, especially when it comes to practical classes or laboratory exercises at the biomedical group. The rectors of public universities adopted the work report as well as the financial report for the previous year.
The Rectors accepted the initiative of the US Embassy to be involved in the project “Using databases collected by international studies to improve the research competencies of universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina” and appointed responsible persons on behalf of all universities that will participate in the implementation of this initiative.
