Sarajevo, 8 September 2020
Professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Sarajevo, Dr. Zlatko Lagumdžija has been appointed to the 12-member AI Board of History of the World Association of Artificial Intelligence, chaired by Governor Mike Dukakis, a former US Democratic presidential candidate and founder of the Global Boston Forum.
Most of the Board members, half of whom come from Harvard and MIT, are professors and researchers from the world’s leading universities in computer science and disciplines focused on the overall social and economic changes produced by the development of Artificial Intelligence.
The appointment followed a presentation by Professor Lagumdžija and Vint Cerf, the founder, the “father” of the Internet, two weeks ago at the United Nations Conference and the Boston Global Forum “UN 2045: A New Economic Model and the Future of Artificial Intelligence.” Two members of the Board of Directors are the winners of the Turing Prize, known as the “Nobel Prize in Computer Science".
The Innovative Network of the World Association of Artificial Intelligence (AIWS) was founded by the Boston Global Forum, the Mike Dukakis Institute, the U.S. Government of Massachusetts, and MIT. AIWS works to identify, publish and promote the principles of fair application of Artificial Intelligence through the development of applications and solutions based on these principles when used in politics, administration, health, education, transport, national security and other areas.
In the coming period, AIWS will monitor the development and use of Artificial Intelligence by governments, corporations and non-profit organizations to determine how complementary they are to the rules and standards defined in the AIWS New Social Contract 2020 in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.)
A group of authors under the auspices of AIWS is working on this and will serve to identify socially harmful effects and the use of Artificial Intelligence through publications and recommendations based on credible reports. After intensive two-year consultations, the adoption of the document (Social Contract 2020) is expected soon at the joint meeting of the World Leadership Alliance and the Boston Global Forum.
The nine-member group of authors of the Social Contract 2020 is led by Vint Cerf, and among them is Dr. Lagumdžija together with the leaders of the Boston Global Forum and professors of Harvard and MIT.
