UNSA hosts a pilot testing of new curricula within ERASMUS+ project “Educational Capacity Strengthening for Risk Management of Non-native Aquatic Species in the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro) – RiskMan”
From 14th to 18th March, the Faculty of Science and the Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, University of Sarajevo, are hosting a Curricula Pilot Testing Meeting within the Erasmus + project “Educational Capacity Strengthening for Risk Management of Non-native Aquatic Species in the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro) – RiskMan”. During this week, three new elective modules are tested: (1) Biology of aquatic alien and invasive species, (2) Impacts of aquatic alien and invasive species, and (3) Impact assessment and management of aquatic alien and invasive species. The lecturers are professors from Northern Macedonia, Croatia, Italy and Turkey.
Lectures are held live and online through the Teams platform, and students of 3rd and 4thyear from the Department of Biology, study group Ecology, are actively participating in the testing.
The Rector of the University of Sarajevo, prof. dr. Rifat Škrijelj gave a warm welcome to all participants.
RiskMan Consortium includes 13 international partners from EU countries and Western Balkans and is funded by the European Union through the ERASMUS+ CBHE program 2020. The project main aim is to promote the education of stakeholders and high education in the field of risk assessment of non-native and invasive species and to stimulate research and cooperation on the management of non-native species in the Western Balkan Region.
