The UNSA Faculty of Sport and Physical Education celebrated its 63 anniversary

As part of the celebration of 15 April, the Day of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Minister of Veteran Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton, Omer Osmanović, attended the ceremonial academy at the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education of the University of Sarajevo, where the 63rd anniversary of the existence and work of the faculty of the same name was also marked.
As true patriots with a sense of high ideals and goals, a large number of Faculty students were the backbone of the defense and statehood of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Many laid down their young lives for freedom, the future and the values they personally respected. One of the Faculty students was Minister Osmanović, who in his speech today emphasized the importance of educating young people about our past.
"As a former student and today a doctor of science at the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education, it is a great honor for me to be able to speak to the new generations about the importance of the culture of memory, but also about the brave young men who exchanged their education for the trenches in order to defend our freedom. During the aggression, 21 students were engaged in the Army and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and I would like to emphasize that most of them were awarded war awards. Our youth today may not wear uniforms like they used to, but they have the responsibility to preserve the values for which the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina fought, freedom, unity and dignity. While we remember the courage and sacrifice, it is important that young people do not remain mere observers of history,'' said Minister Osmanović.
The attendees were also addressed today by the Dean of the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education Sarajevo Ifet Mahmutović, saying that this institution builds a society of academic citizens year after year, who do not forget our cruel history, as well as by the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation of the UNSA, Prof. Dr. Kemal Durić.
The Faculty of Sports and Physical Education of the University of Sarajevo is an educational and scientific institution that was established by the Law on the Establishment of the College of Physical Education in Sarajevo on 25 November 1963.
