The University of Sarajevo promoted 54 Doctors of Science
The ceremony of promoting UNSA PhD candidates in Doctors of Science was held on Thursday, 20 December 2018 in the National Theater Sarajevo.
Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, University of Sarajevo Rector, Vice-Rectors and faculty deans promoted 54 PhD candidates in Doctors of Sciences from the fields belonging to humanistic, social, medical, natural-mathematical and biotechnical sciences groups and a group of technical sciences. Over the past seven decades, the University of Sarajevo has promoted more than 166,000 graduates, more than 18,000 masters, and to date, together with you, about 3,500 doctors of science and art.
In his congratulating to newly promoted doctors, Rector Škrijelj expressed the desire that they would apply new knowledge and skills to the general welfare of his community and humanity as a whole.
Striving to Knowledge Society, the University of Sarajevo promoted: 7 candidates for the honor of Doctor of Technical Sciences, 5 candidates for Honorary Doctors of Economic and Pharmaceutical Sciences, 4 candidates for the Doctor of Legal Sciences, 3 candidates for the honor of Doctor of Political, Security, 2 candidates for the honor of Doctor of Food Technology, Biotechnical, Veterinary and Administrative Sciences, and 1 candidate for the honor of Doctors of Medical, Sociological, Communication, Criminological, Health, Linguistic and Psychological Sciences.
On behalf of the promoted Doctor of Sciences of the University of Sarajevo, Dr. Emir Vajzović, Doctor of Political Sciences, addressed the audience. He said “The ignorant would say that the doctoral dissertation defense means the end of a challenging and distinctive road. However, this is, in fact, just the beginning - the beginning of even more serious scientific and social engagement. We need to impose a new logical paradigm for the academic community to be a natural and compulsory partner to decision-makers in all areas. Only a knowledge-based society, but also a scientific-research work can expect long-term and sustainable progress. “
The artistic part of the program was extoled by the UNSA Music Academy choir, performing the academic anthem “Gaudeamus” and Martin Jose Rodriguez Peris’ compositions: Concert for four flutes by Ariana Piknjač, Petra Tokić, Marijana Čutura and Sonja Međugorac, class: .
