University of Sarajevo participated in the annual fair of the European Association for International Education (EAIE)
From 17 to 20 September 2024, Toulouse (France) was the center of higher education institutions from all over Europe and the world at the annual fair of the European Association for International Education (EAIE). The theme of this year's 34th Conference was “Innovation and Sustainability in Higher Education,” and over four days more than 240 sessions and activities were organized, presented at over 200 stands, with the participation of more than 7,300 professionals from academia, government and industry who discussed the future of education and global cooperation.
At the invitation of the European Commission, with the recommendations of the National Erasmus Agencies, regional universities, including the University of Sarajevo, were given the opportunity to attend this important event. On behalf of the University of Sarajevo, the participation was taken by M.Sc. Adnan Rahimić, senior expert associate for international cooperation.
Events at the fair included panel discussions, workshops and presentations focused on key topics, such as innovation, student mobility and sustainable development of educational programs. Networking events enabled the participants to establish new contacts and cooperation, and the challenges of digitization and the importance of internationalization in educational institutions were also discussed.
The University of Sarajevo had the opportunity to meet with the coordinators of Erasmus+ KA171 projects and to talk with representatives of international networks (Network of Universities from the Capitals of Europe - UNICA, Erasmus Student Network, and others).
EAIE presented some of the European alliances that aim to strengthen European capacities by strengthening innovation through cooperation and the flow of knowledge between higher education, vocational education and training, and the broader socio-economic environment, including research. One of the European alliances that had their representation at the fair is EUPeace (European University for Peace, Justice, and Inclusive Societies), of which our university is a partner. The EUPeace alliance/network is particularly focused on increasing the effects of internationalization under the prefix of nurturing a peaceful, just and inclusive European society, at different levels. In this way, our university continues the long-standing tradition of inter-university cooperation for the development of a culture of dialogue and promotion of peace. The EUPeace alliance consists of nine European universities, several of which (including the coordinator Philipps University in Marburg) attended the mentioned fair and presented the alliance's activities.
As part of the European Commission's stand, sessions on regional cooperation of universities in the Western Balkans were organized, as well as meetings with international institutions interested in cooperation with our institution.
The next fair is held in Gothenburg, Sweden, from 9 to 12 September 2025. More details available at the official website: https://www.eaie.org/events/toulouse.html.
