University of Sarajevo joined the Network of European Universities “Santander Group”
Recognizing the active and extremely successful work in the field of international cooperation and the process of internationalization, the Network of European Universities “Santander Group” sent an invitation to the University of Sarajevo to join and become a member of this international association. The University of Sarajevo is the only higher education institution from Bosnia and Herzegovina that has received an invitation.
After accepting the invitation of the University of Sarajevo, and the application process, the General Assembly of the Santander Group was held, at which the University of Sarajevo unanimously received the status of a full member, as all other European higher education institutions have.
The network of European universities “Santander Group” is an international non-profit association that was founded in 1988 in Spain, in the city of Santander, after which it was named. Currently, 35 universities from 17 European countries have full membership status and 4 universities from 4 non-European countries have associate member status. No higher education institution from our region is a member of this association.
The University of Sarajevo was invited to the initiative of the University of Ghent (Belgium) with which UNSA implemented three Erasmus Mundus projects for the mobility of students, teachers and associates in the period 2008-2013.
Among other things, it provides services to the members of the Santander Group, such as assistance in writing projects from the Erasmus + and Horizon 2020 programs, consulting in the field of higher education policies, lobbying, direct participation in EU projects; designing and organizing specialist seminars, workshops and trainings, ICon - academic exchange program InterCONtinental, Think Tanks for China, Latin America and Africa, visibility of members and their activities.
