University of Sarajevo at the 35th International Book and Education Fair | Awards, Recognition, and Gratitude
The University of Sarajevo participated in the 35th International Book and Education Fair, which was held from 17 to 22 April 2024, at three locations. The event featured a variety of activities and exhibitions that aligned with this year's theme, "Translation and the Language of Writers" and "Cultural Heritage of Countries around the World."
The Fair concluded with the awarding of prizes in various fields and gratitude to the Program Committee. The best publishing project was awarded to the work "Nature of Bosnia and Herzegovina" by Prof. Dr. Dalibor Ballian, published by the Franciscan Media Center "Svjetlo Riječi" in Sarajevo.
The award for e-publishing and new technologies was given to the University of Sarajevo's Faculty of Philosophy for the work "SARAJEVSKI KORPUS SMS PORUKA NA BOSANSKOM JEZIKU". The authors are Halid Bulić, Elma Durmišević, Azra Hodžić-Čavkić, Enisa Bajraktarević, Azra Ahmetspahić-Peljto, and Belmin Šabić.
The Faculty of Philosophy was also awarded a special recognition by the scientific jury for the work "Zbirka umjetnina Rektorata Univerziteta u Sarajevu". The main editor is Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, and the editor is Adela Nurković-Kulenović.
Gratitude was extended to the Rector of the University of Sarajevo and members of the university who presented their publishing activities at this year's fair.
During the closing ceremony, students from the Music Academy of the University of Sarajevo, Najda Nukić (flute) and Anes Čolak (harmonica), performed a piece by Gorka Hermosa.
The university's faculties, academies, and institutes showcased their developed publishing activities - scientific production. Additionally, promotional sessions for languages and cultures were held for elementary school students, high school students, and librarians, featuring Slovenian, English, Spanish, Latin, German, Polish, Chinese, Greek, and Czech languages. The lecturers were professors from the Faculty of Philosophy and the Confucius Institute of the University of Sarajevo.
Visitors had the opportunity to see exhibits from the University of Sarajevo's research institutes.
In the ceremonial hall and Bosnian house, twelve book releases from institutes such as the Institute for History, Faculty of Philosophy, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences, Faculty of Management and Academy of Performing Arts were presented.
The central event was education for teachers in preschools titled "Pedagogija integrirane kreativnosti: od vrtića do univerziteta", led by professors from the Faculty of Philosophy Prof. Dr. Amir Pušina and Prof. Dr. Dženeta Camović.
