Student Support Office a Training Program for Academic Staff from Inclusive Education

The Student Support Office, University of Sarajevo has implemented the second cycle of the University of Sarajevo Academic Staff Training Program within the project Higher Education - Education for All (VOzaSVE / HE4ALL) - UNICEF component.

The training program was implemented at the University of Sarajevo Rectorate and at the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, University of Sarajevo on 11 and 12 September, 18 and 19 September, and 25 and 26 September. It had of three modules that could be selected by academic staff as a whole or individually by module.

Inclusive education training included the following units:
Module One: An Introduction to Inclusive Education
(presenters: Doz. Dr. Sandra Bjelan-Guska, and Doz. Dr. Lejla Osmić)
•    Basic assumptions of inclusive education
•    Observations and impressions
•    Social exclusion and inclusive education in higher education
•    Professional development of inclusive education teachers
•    Respect for diversity and support for all students - a shared vision

Module Two: Through teamwork to inclusive practice
(presenters: Prof. Dr. Snježana Šušnjara, and Prof. Dr. Merima Zukić)
•    Application of communication in the development of professional relationships
•    Collaboration to participate
•    Work with others to improve the quality of education
•    Bioecological theory
•    Encouraging self-determination in students with disabilities

Module 3: An environment that encourages individualized learning
(presenters: Doz. Dr.  Sandra Bjelan-Guska and Anida Manko, MA)
•    Situational awareness in higher education
•    Opportunities and obstacles in student learning and participation
•    Differentiated teaching and personalized learning
•    Applying the principles of UDL in creating a learning environment
•    Application of assistive technology in higher education

The training program was attended by academic staff employed by various organizational units. We take the opportunity to thank all the trainees for applying and participating in topic realization, sharing experiences and discussion.

The training program is implemented within the framework of the UNICEF-funded project Higher Education - Education for All (VOzaSVE / HE4ALL).
